The Yellow Emperor ask: What is the important of Yao Ming?

The White Emperor answer: What is the important? There are three important medical problems of Yao Ming now day or next few months.

The Yellow Emperor asks: What is the first important thing?

The White Emperor answers: The important First is the psychological distress for the future.

Yao still mulling best course of action: Yao Ming sounded optimistic Wednesday when talking about his foot injury. "I am optimistic about the future and I will return to playing basketball when my foot has fully healed," Yao said in a statement released by his agent Wednesday. "My focus is on selecting the best treatment option for my injured foot and committing myself to do what I can to ensure a complete recovery." Yao is still consulting with doctors about the hairline fracture and will announce within a week what kind of treatment he's chosen.

Ankle - Out indefinitely. Could miss entire 2009-10 season

How long that treatment might sideline him is the biggest question facing the Rockets in the offseason, though they've already cashed in on his injury in a sense. The Rockets applied for a disabled player exception from the NBA a few weeks ago, betting that their center will miss next season as he recovers. The NBA agreed that Yao's return is unlikely and approved the request, freeing up about $5.7 million that the Rockets used to sign free agent Trevor Ariza from the Lakers. General manager Daryl Morey said the league's approval for the injury exception does not rule out Yao's return this season.

second, it’s the foot injury.

The Yellow Emperor asks: What is the second important thing?

The White Emperor answers: The second important one is the body problem, the foot injury.

Yao Ming's Foot Injury

After limping off of the court in this past years Western Conference Semi Finals against the Lakers, who would of thought that Yao Ming would be looking at a season, potentially career ending injury?

Yao has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the left foot. More specifically he has fractured a small bone located at the top arch of the foot, called the Navicular.

A stress fracture is a common overuse injury most often seen in athletes. It usually occurs when the forces are much lower, but happen repetitively for a long period of time; these injuries are also known as "fatigue fractures." Stress fractures are commonly seen in athletes who run and jump on hard surfaces, such as distance runners, basketball players, and ballet dancers.
A stress fracture can occur in any bone, but is commonly seen in the foot and shin bones (about.com).

Here's a great video from ESPN describing, in further detail, Yao's injury:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4295729

Treatment of a stress fracture typically includes but not limited to:

Rest

Immobilization

Heat

Muscle Stimulation

Soft Tissue Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy

Graston Technique

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Kinesio Tape

Stretching and Strengthening Exercises

Ice

Orthotics

*Surgery if necessary

Of the above listed treatments, rest and immobilization are without question, the most important. This is needed to allow the injury to fully heal. If it doesn't heal properly, and the athlete starts playing again, that area can become susceptible to further injury. Or worse yet, other areas of the foot can pick up the unnecessary slack, and become injured themselves. This can ultimately start, or in Yao's case, continue a cascade of problems.

Now I know its difficult to keep a Starting Center/NBA Icon/Hero from China off the basketball court, but it is definitely necessary. Stress fractures take time to heal, and can become a nuisance if they don't heal properly.

Hopefully Yao choose's the correct course of treatment, and is given the appropriate amount of resting time. Even though it may take a while for him to get back on the court, we are all routing for him to have a long and successful career.

The Yellow Emperor asks: What is the third important thing?

The White Emperor answers: The third important one is the deficiency of Yao’s kidney function

Basketball superstar Yao Ming recently wed his long-time girlfriend Ye Li. The 7 foot six inches tall Houston Rocketscenter painstakingly arranged a marriage despite still recovering from an injury-filled and intense NBA season. The two were wed in a five-star hotel in Shanghai. Ye Li doesn’t that tall next to her tall groom, but at 6 foot 2 inches, she’s already among the tallest women in the ceremony. Incidentally, Mrs. Yao Ming also plays basketball for the Chinese National Team.

Pictures of the happily wed couple started circulating weeks before the actual ceremony showing the two looking very much in love in a picturesque resort in Eastern China. Yao looked dashing in a well-put-together dark suit while Ye Li looked stunning in a very daring white gown that showcased her svelte figure. This has made the two the talk of the town yet again. You just couldn’t get enough of a sweet couple, right?

After the ceremonies at the hotel, Yao and Ye along with their guests went on a cruise of the Huangpu River on a luxury houseboat. The entire wedding cost $130,000 – not a big deal considering Yao’s income from his day job and of course, his dozens of advertisement contracts.

The event was relatively intimate – only 100 people were invited and none of them were teammates or national team members. Despite the short guest list, the security detail was absolutely topnotch. Over a hundred security personnel were on hand. Even though they didn’t invite their teammates, they plan to host a special dinner with them sometime this month to formally share their joy as a couple to those who saw them progressed into their relationship.

Yao and his beautiful bride will play a key role in China’s proclamation of the one year countdown to the 2008 Summer Games this month. Despite his popularity, Yao has been criticized for being less willing to play for the National Team – citing extended breaks during the off-season and excessive planning of his wedding.
