Hello-
I am set up for an outpatient surgery this coming Friday, July 31, for an umbilical hernia. I am on 4-5 percocet 10/325s a day, two different BP medicines (nadolol 40x2 a day and verapamil 240mg x 1 per day), tizanidine 4 mg x 3 per day, plus 14 mg prednisone per day, and am on an intrathecal pain pump (10mg per day dilaudid – 30% concentration and 11 mg per day bupivacaine via catheter); considering these circumstances, and ongoing medications, what would a 1 hour to 90 minute hernia operation require anesthesia require in general terms? A mild sedative, or the usual anesthesia just in lighter doses? I would be very interested in what, if any, special arrangements would be required for a relatively safe anesthesia.
Thank you all,
Alex G , TN USA
