as Dr.Amoushahi said it may be due to allergic reaction to PVC.
also you can use silicon tracheal tubes that has no obvious reaction.
Don't worry it is safe.

Dear Donna and Other anesthetists friends,
The rarely possibility of airways reaction is the reaction to the tracheal tube during general anesthesia.
The tubes are produced with the PVC. An allergic patient may be sensitive to the PVC and his or her asthma exacerbated by it. But it's symptoms and signs appear during anesthesia and disappear after removing of tube. Regional or local anesthesia is choice for allergic patient. For example local anesthesia for tooth removing is very good.

Sincerely Yours

-Hi Donna,
Asthma is a hypersensitivity illness with a wide spectrum, it is true that maybe you have outgrown its pulmonary stages which manifested in your chilhood? But the fact that you have penicillin allergy and chronic sinusitis does not preclude the possibility of having its symptoms again. General anesthesia, as far as i know, is never been implicated as a trigger for asthma reactivation, in fact some anesthetic agents may help relieve airway narrowing though there are other agents which can trigger a reactive airway if introduced inappropriately. Try searching for other triggers which you may consider to avoid and ask your physician/anesthesi ologist for more clarification.

> I am just wondering if any of you know if a general anestheticcan cause asthma to make a return after I was told that I was clear of asthma and I had outgrown it??? I'll tell you from the begining Five months ago I was ok no breathing problems nothing quite sit and healthy then at the end of Febuary begining of march my appendix decide to go a wall so I had to have a General anesthetic for that that was not the problem the problem started about two hours after surgery my chest was extremely tight and painful.
>
> when I told my named nurse about the pain and tightness she told me that it was the stress of the operation and to give it a few days and it would pass.

> but it did not pass it got worst and worst till i am at the stage that I am now which is very breathless easily, tight chest, cough persistant also being sick but think that is more todo with the constand coughing as the vomiting has only just started in the last month. I have a complicated medical history aswell which is Previous ADS repair Penicillin allergy as well as chronic sinusities.
>

Since the operation to remove my appendix my scar where I had them removed is extremely painful I cannot lift my sister who I am the main carer for. also since the anesthetic I have been told that I have a very mild form of depression could the anesthetic be related to that aswell???
